Cybersecurity for Small Businesses:

 Hi guys,

Welcome back! This time is the last time๐Ÿ˜“ My blog journey for my Digital Economy module has come to an end!

This week I am going to be discussing cybersecurity for small businesses. This has been a hot topic in classes over the last week as you all may know SETU was hit with an attack and it is not fun๐Ÿ˜

Cybersecurity is crucial for every business or organisation no matter how big or small.

Small businesses are a target for hackers because they are usually easier to hack than larger companies. How can businesses protect themselves from cyber attacks? Here are a few practices a business can put in place to hopefully keep their business safe.๐Ÿ™

1. Conduct a Security Assessment - the in house IT team should conduct regular security assessments. Security assessments uncover blind spots that hackers can and will exploit.

2. Require strong passwords and multi-factor authentication- requiring employees to create strong passwords is an easy way to improve cybersecurity. Make sure all employees use different passwords for different accounts.

3. Employee Cybersecurity Training- employee trainings should be conducted quarterly or at least once a year. Employees and emails are a leading cause of data breaches for small businesses. it is crucial that employees are educated on how to stay safe while using the companies network.

These are just 3 practices a small business could implement to limit the chance of an attack.๐Ÿ’ฅstay safe out there!

For now I want to say thank you for joining me over the last 8 weeks of my blog journey it has been a blast!๐Ÿ˜Ž

See you all soon,

Kasie๐Ÿ’—
